“In The Queer Allies Bible, NV Gay provides one of the most helpful tools to combat LGBTQ+ discrimination and stigma — education. NV expertly explains the vastness of identities and experiences within the LGBTQ+ community, and how those outside of the community can work to increase their allyship and understanding. In a time when queer and trans knowledge and needs are being suppressed, particularly in the United States, The Queer Allies Bible will serve as an important antidote to bring about the normalization and better recognition of the LGBTQ+ community and their vital needs.”—Zoe Stoller LSW, Social Worker and Educator.
“Throughout history, every movement for justice has been powered not only by the resilience of the marginalized but also by those who, inspired by conscience, have leveraged their privilege to stand in solidarity with the oppressed. In The Queer Allies Bible, NV Gay offers an insightful and practical guide for allies of the queer community—those committed to understanding the unique perspectives, experiences, and challenges queer people face. This accessible book equips allies with the knowledge and tools to advocate effectively, strategically using their voices and resources in the ongoing struggle for queer liberation. The Queer Allies Bible is a must-read, empowering allies to play a transformative role in creating a just and equitable world for all.”—Rev. Brandan Robertson, Activist, Pastor, and Author of Queer & Christian: Reclaiming the Bible, Our Faith, and Our Place at the Table
“The Queer Allies Bible does the invaluable work of making queer allyship approachable and achievable for everyone. With warmth and vulnerability, NV Gay guides readers through the often challenging process of transforming good intentions into useful, supportive action. This is a gentle, loving book that practices what it preaches. I’m glad this book exists.”—Cody Daigle-Orians, American author and social media personality using the name, Ace Dad Advice.
In today’s world, there are a lot of opinions and discussions surrounding gender and sexual identity. Whether these conversations are happening in workplaces, legislatures, communities, schools, churches, or on social media, many are taking place without the voices of those most affected—namely members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Using the actual lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals, The Queer Allies Bible provides a much-needed guide for how to be an effective and affirming LGBTQIA+ ally. Special emphasis is placed on three main pillars: learning and understanding; being respectful; and advocacy. Through these pillars, the book delves into activities and actions that allies can engage in, including conversation starters; responding to anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks; supporting the coming out process; religion; creating inclusive spaces, and more.
A necessary book in the present climate, The Queer Allies Bible is a multi-generational resource designed to educate people to be inclusive, accepting, and affirming LGBTQIA+ allies.
